How do you design a space that exists for just a few days, yet lives on in people's minds for years? This discussion looks at the phenomenon of temporary architecture — festival pavilions, short-term interventions, and scenography that increasingly shape the way we experience culture and the world around us.
We'll talk about why short-term builds are often bolder than classical architecture, and what becomes possible when a space doesn't have to survive decades — or even weeks. The discussion will be complemented by short visual presentations of the guests' projects and photographs of their work, turning it into less of a classic architecture debate and more of an excursion into parallel worlds emerging at the intersection of architecture, scenography, and festival imagination.

Andrej Olah founded the architecture studio Grau in 2014, which he currently leads together with Filip Marčák. The studio works on public buildings, family houses, offices, residential interiors, festivals, public spaces, and exhibitions. They always aim to work in and with context, avoiding anything artificial, and using only honest materials and approaches. They consistently work from the whole toward the detail, from vision to realization, constantly seeking the connection between interior and exterior.

Juraj Peták is an architect, designer, musician, and father. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (VŠVU) in Bratislava, he is the founder of the architecture studio PALE — a collective studio of architecture, design, and aesthetics dedicated to creating spaces for living, working, and culture. The studio was founded in 2021 with the desire and determination to broaden individual perspective and deepen understanding of space, its beauty, and its potential impact on human perception. He has worked with the Grape festival as an architect since its second edition in 2011. Alongside the festival grounds he creates each year, he is the author of several striking art installations. Across all areas of his work, he seeks the intersection of architecture, design, music, and art.

Veronika Michalíková has spent the past 16 years working within the architectural group Woven, which focuses on smaller-scale projects such as public space interventions, urban furniture, and exhibition systems. Alongside this, they ran a summer school for students, [1:1] WORKSHOP, for 10 years. The experience from this project was compiled into the book Tam vonku (Out There, 2024).

He studied architecture at TU Wien and spent four years working at the Vienna studio AllesWirdGut. In 2024 and 2025, he curated the architecture collection at the Slovak National Gallery (SNG). In 2014, he initiated the project Ikony, a documentary series about figures of Slovak post-war architecture that was both a popular and critical success, broadcast on RTVS around the turn of 2020–2021. The project received the Tatra Banka Foundation Art Award and the National Design Award. He is currently continuing to develop Ikony as part of his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at STU in Bratislava, under the supervision of Professor Henrieta Moravčíková.
